Starting your day with a 10 minute morning yoga routine can help you feel more calm, centered, and energized throughout the day. Here's a simple yoga sequence you can do in the comfort of your own home:
10 Minute Morning Yoga Routine for a Calm and Centered Day |
Begin in a comfortable seated position with your hands resting on your knees or in your lap. Take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
On your inhale, raise your arms up overhead, stretching your fingertips towards the ceiling. On your exhale, lower your arms back down to your sides.
From a seated position, come onto your hands and knees into tabletop position. Inhale and arch your back, lifting your head and tailbone towards the ceiling for Cow pose. Exhale and round your spine, bringing your chin to your chest for Cat pose.
From tabletop position, extend your left leg straight back behind you and balance on your right knee for a modified version of Warrior III. Hold for a few breaths, then switch sides.
Return to tabletop position and then slowly lower yourself down onto your stomach. Place your palms under your shoulders and press up into Cobra pose, lifting your chest off the ground.
From Cobra pose, push back into Downward Facing Dog, with your feet hip-width apart and your hands shoulder-width apart. Pedal your feet back and forth to stretch out your hamstrings.
Lower yourself down onto your knees and come into Child's pose, resting your forehead on the mat and your arms stretched out in front of you.
Slowly come back up to a seated position and take a few final deep breaths.
This 10 minute morning yoga routine can help you start your day off on the right foot by promoting mindfulness, relaxation, and physical well-being.
